SHINE! Servant Event 2025
Make a Christ-centered difference in our community.
Pick a project; shine the light of Jesus to our neighbors.
Date: Saturday, April 5
Time: 9 am – Noon
Volunteers Needed: 10–12
Location: Meet at the Good Shepherd Care Community
Volunteers should bring trowels, rakes, shovels, gloves, trash bags, trucks to haul away yard waste, leaves, and branches.
*If necessary, the rain date is Saturday, April 12.
Date: Saturday, April 5
Time: 2 pm
Volunteers Needed: 15–20
Location: School Gym
This project will be packing bags with various snacks. Can be done sitting. Snacks and bags will be provided.
Date: Saturday, April 5 & 12
Time: 3 pm (April 5), 5 pm (April 12)
Volunteers Needed: 2–3 people per day
Students from our two local high schools will be invited to greet the residents at the Good Shepherd Care Community, showing off their High School Prom outfits.
Date: Sunday, April 6, 2–4 pm
Volunteers Needed: 15–20
Location: Good Shepherd Care Community
Volunteers will treat the residents to improved personal care of their hands and nails. Amateur manicure.
Date: Sunday, April 6 – Sunday, April 13
Location: Collection boxes in the narthex and church office
The Sweet Springs Food Pantry, located at 213 Main Street in Sweet Springs, Missouri, services people residing in the Sweet Springs, Concordia, and Santa Fe school districts. They have two days of distribution to the local communities every month.
Needed items include any non-perishable food items or canned goods. Small bags of toiletries, laundry detergent and cleaner are also greatly appreciated. Donation boxes can be found in the narthex and church office.
If you are unable to bring your donations to the designated drop boxes, please contact the church office, and we will make arrangements to come pick up your donation.

Time: 1–3 pm
Volunteers Needed: 8–10
Location: Insight Eyecare building basement, 108 NE 2nd Street, Concordia
Volunteers will help sort donated clothing for those people in need. Learn more about Orphan Grain Train at ogt.org.
Date: Tuesday, April 8
Time: 2–4 pm
Volunteers Needed: 10–15
Location: St. Paul’s Church Office
Help is needed in tying quilts and laying out additional quilt tops to be sent to Orphan Grain Train. No sewing experience is needed. Bring a scissors for snipping yarn and a pliers for pulling yarn through tight fabric.
Date: Saturday, April 12
Time: 9 am – Noon
Volunteers Needed: 10–15
Location: Meet at Concordia Southside Park
Volunteers are needed to repaint 6 serving tables at the shelter houses at Southside Park. Volunteers are also needed to rake mulch in the bordered swing set areas at both Southside Park and at the Concordia City Lake.
Volunteers should bring rakes, shovels, and gloves.

If you cannot participate in one of the projects listed above but still wish to offer some kind of hands-on service, reach out to a neighbor, a friend, or a fellow church member who could use some kind of assistance, respite, or relief.
