Transition Team Report

Transition Team Report to the Voters.doc 129.5KB Jan 15, 2016 1:36 PM

December 2, 2015 Update
Pastor Moore completed the Cottage Meetings the first week in November, with about 270 different members attending a total of 22 meetings.  Currently (Dec. 2, 2015) the Transition Team is tabulating the results of these meetings, a slow but rewarding process, and hopes to be ready with a report to the Voters on January 20, 2016.  The Transition Team consists of President Mark Heins, President-elect John Beerman, Elder Chair Todd Martens, Elder Chair-elect Don Schlesselman, Mission Planning Council Chair Paul Heins, Call Committee Chair Stan Oetting, and Call Committee member Karen Bauer, along with Pastor Moore.

It is expected that the Voters Meetings of January 20 and February 7 will wrap up the work of the Transition Team and launch the call process proper.

A special voters meeting will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 1pm in the school gymnasium to hear a report from the Interim Pastor Calling Committee, and to consider placing a call to Rev. Dr. Jeffery Moore to serve as an Interim Pastor to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.  We hope that you can attend this very important meeting.

ON SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 2015, THE VOTER'S ASSEMBLY OF ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH APPROVED A RESOLUTION TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INTENTIONAL INTERIM PASTORAL MINISTRY PROGRAM PROVIDED BY THE MISSOURI DISTRICT.  THE INTENTIONAL INTERIM MINISTRY PROVIDES A FULL-TIME PASTOR FOR A CONGREGATION SO THAT THE MINISTRY CAN MOVE FORWARD. THE CONFIRMATION CLASSES, SHUT-IN MINISTRY, HOSPITAL VISITS, EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, PASTOR COUNSELING AND A HOST OF OTHER NORMAL CONGREGATIONAL ACTIVITIES ARE PROVIDED IN AN ALMOST SEAMLESS MANNER.

AN ACTION PLAN HAS BEEN PUT INTO MOTION TO BEGIN THE INTERIM PASTOR CALL PROCESS.  THE INTERIM PASTOR CALLING COMMITTEE, (CONSISTING OF THE BOARD OF ELDERS), HAS ESTABLISHED A MINISTRY DESCRIPTION, AND HAVE DEVELOPED A LIST OF QUESTIONS TO BE ASKED IN AN ITERVIEW.  THIS CALLING COMMITTEE HAS  ASKED THE MISSOURI DISTRICT TO PROVIDE US WITH THE NAME OF A CANDIDATE TO CONSIDER.  A FACE TO FACE INTERVIEW WILL BE CONDUCTED BETWEEN THE BOARD OF ELDERS AND THIS PASTOR.  IF THE ELDERS RECOMMEND THAT WE CALL THIS INTERIM PASTOR, WE WILL HOLD A SPECIAL VOTERS MEETING TO CONSIDER ISSUING HIM A CALL.

ONCE IN PLACE, THE INTERIM PASTOR WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE OUR CONGREGATION UNTIL A PERMANENT SENIOR PASTOR HAS BEEN CALLED AND HAS ACCEPTED OUR CALL.

PASTOR MEHL IS CURRENTLY SERVING AS OUR VACANCY PASTOR UNTIL AN INTERIM PASTOR IS IN PLACE.

SHOULD ANYONE BE IN NEED OF PASTORAL CARE,  YOU MAY CONTACT THE CHURCH OFFICE DURING REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS, OR PASTOR MEHL AT HIS HOME AFTER HOURS.

WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE SEVERAL PASTORS LIVING IN THE CONCORDIA AREA THAT HAVE AGREED TO PREACH OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL SUNDAYS.

WE PRAY THAT GOD WILL CONTINUE TO FULFILL THE NEEDS OF THIS CONGREGATION, AND THAT HE WILL PROVIDE US WITH AN INTERIM IN DUE TIME. THE CHURCH'S LEADERSHIP WILL KEEP THE CONGREGATION UPDATED ON THE STATUS OF THE CALL PROCESS VIA BULLETIN NOTICES AND SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS.  WE HAVE ALSO ADDED A TAB TO THE CHURCH'S WEBISTE ENTITLED "CALL PROCESS", AND WILL POST PERIODIC MESSAGES ON THE CHURCH'S FACEBOOK PAGE.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO KEEP THE PASTOR CALL PROCESS IN YOUR PRAYERS.
